- Abuse report : signalement formulé par un résident et traité par les équipes de Linden Lab. Disponible par le menu Aide > Signaler une infraction….
- AFK (Loin du clavier) : expression utilisée par les joueurs pour signifier une absence.
- Alt : autre avatar utilisé par un joueur en plus de son compte habituel.
- Animation : mouvement joué par l’avatar.
- AO (Animations Overrider) : Attachement contenant un script et des animations qui remplacent celles par défaut.
- Attachement : objet pouvant être attaché directement sur le corps de l’avatar.
- Auto-return : paramètre de terrain qui permet de retourner un objet à son propriétaire après une durée définie. Peut être désactivé ou réglé en minutes.
- Avatar : votre incarnation sur Second Life. Son apparence peut être modifiée par le menu Apparence.
- Away : mode accessible par le menu Monde > Set Away qui signifie l’absence d’un joueur.

- Ban : bannissement. En cas de troubles, un joueur peut être exclu temporairement ou indéfiniment d’une parcelle, d’une région (par l’action de son propriétaire) ou de la plate-forme (par l’action d’un employé de Linden Lab). Un bannissement intervient en général après plusieurs avertissements.
- Basique : compte gratuit.
- Beta grid : grille test de Second Life.
- Bot : avatar piloté par un programme informatique.
- Bug : problème technique qui peut être rapporté aux développeurs sur JIRA.
- Busy : mode accessible par le menu Monde > Set Busy qui signifie l’indisponibilité d’un joueur.
